Why I Do This Work

After working in research, programming, and information management, I never expected to find myself here – helping people retrain their brains and reclaim their sense of self.
But over the past 15 years, I’ve seen neurofeedback shift lives in ways I’ll never forget.
• A veteran who walked out after one session saying it was “the best day in 17 years.”
• An amputee whose phantom limb pain finally eased.
• A group of first responders whose openness and resilience left a lasting impression.
• An 85-year-old woman whose friends were thrilled to “have her back.”
• A mother with severe brain fog whose thinking became clear again.
• A little boy with ADHD who looked me straight in the eye after his first session and said, “Thank you”.
In this chapter of my life, I feel incredibly fortunate. To be part of these stories to witness these quiet shifts – is something I’ll never take for granted.

With gratitude, Susan Gillies

Born from the Front Lines

In 2023, we launched a pilot with 25 first responders — paramedics, police officers, and firefighters — who took part in 20 sessions of brain training. The results were transformative: better sleep, reduced tension, improved clarity, and a renewed sense of calm.

That project became the seed for something bigger — HeroBrain — a growing initiative to bring neurofeedback to those who serve.

What Our Clients Are Saying: Real Experiences. Real Results.

The stories below reflect the true power of neurofeedback – as told by the people who’ve lived it. From parents navigating autism to first responders under chronic stress, and athletes striving for peak performance, these are just a few of the individuals whose lives have shifted through brain training with Good Vibrations Neurofeedback.

Each journey is unique – but the message is the same: When your brain is supported, everything gets easier.

On the Front Line: Neurofeedback’s Impact on Those Under Pressure

The toll of chronic stress is highest among those who serve and protect – yet few know that brain training through neurofeedback is even an option. First responders, veterans, emergency medical workers, Indigenous groups and farmers often face intense pressure with limited support. These stories highlight real people from high-risk groups who found hope and healing. Their experiences offer a glimpse into what’s possible when the brain – and the person – is given the chance to find peace.

Parenting on the Spectrum

“When our daughter was first diagnosed on the autism spectrum, we felt at a loss.
There were so many opinions, differing information, and conflicting advice – it was overwhelming.

As someone who prefers natural solutions over conventional ones, it felt like an answer to prayer when we met Susan and were introduced to neurofeedback.

Of course, I was skeptical. The idea that brain training – done simply by sitting still and listening to music for half an hour – could make a difference seemed too good to be true.

But we gave it a try. Soon after, we decided to rent a system so our whole family could benefit and make the most of it. Sure enough, we began noticing changes: better sleep, fewer meltdowns, and feeling more clear-minded – just to name a few. I even began inviting friends and family to try it too.

Fast forward five years. We had drifted away from brain training, and new behavioural challenges were surfacing as our daughter approached puberty. Then, we crossed paths with Susan again. God really does take care of us better than we can take care of ourselves.

Eager to start again, we decided to invest in our own Neurofeedback bundle – something we could use whenever we felt the need for a tune-up. It’s especially helpful now that our daughter is a bit on-again, off-again about doing sessions. We can give her a sense of control without the pressure of a rental deadline.

Now, it’s part of our life – no more long lapses between tune-ups. And best of all, we can continue introducing others in our circle to something that’s brought so much calm and clarity into our home.”

Performance Under Pressure

“My performance went from good to instinctual.”
’I’m a professional hockey player. I started NeurOptimal® after two concussions—more out of curiosity than necessity. I had some brain fog off the ice and was hoping to feel sharper.

The first few sessions were remarkable. I’d drive home with the windows down, music on, feeling totally Zen. Soon, my on-ice training felt effortless. The usual mental chatter and daydreaming between reps just stopped. I was more focused, more present, and started having great training days more often.

When the pro skates and training camp started, I hit another gear—scoring goals in what felt like an out-of-body experience. No overthinking, no second-guessing. Just pure instinct. This is where athletes perform at their peak—and for me, NeurOptimal helped get me there.”

Six years later, Jeremy is still using NeurOptimal® to stay sharp—on and off the ice.

On the Front Lines

Police:
I had been struggling with poor sleep, teeth grinding and irritability for a couple of years and was recommended to try Neurofeedback by a friend and fellow first responder.
The improvements were immediate and after 20 sessions my sleep has greatly improved, and I have a daily general feeling of being at ease. Unexpectedly, I have also experienced a reduction in the sound level of my tinnitus. I highly recommend neurofeedback to all.”

Paramedic:
“I was skeptical at first, but after a near breakdown, I figured I had nothing to lose. I was overwhelmed, always irritable, crying every day, and barely sleeping. After just a few sessions, I started sleeping through the night – something I couldn’t remember doing in years. By the end of 20 sessions, I felt like myself again. I wasn’t sad all the time. I wasn’t sweating the small stuff. My mood shifted, and my irritability was almost gone. I always looked forward to my sessions – or as I called them, my ‘nap time.’

Firefighter:
“I’m a retired firefighter of 30 years and live with PTSD and tinnitus from a whiplash injury back in 2011. After just one neurofeedback session, the ringing in my ears was almost gone –  and after the second, it disappeared. I also used to sleep only 2 to 4 hours a night and had recurring dreams about the calls I responded to. Now I sleep 6 to 7 hours, my mood is more positive, and the pain in my body has eased. Neurofeedback has helped drastically with stress, irritability, and emotional regulation.”
